We're going on (a much needed) vacation next week to Miami. We'll be gone from Sep 1-10, but the shop WILL be open Saturday the 1st and definitely Saturday the 8th 11-5 like normal! There might be a couple days in between that my sister in law will be here during the week, so check our facebook page for updates. 

In the meantime, I've been busy packing the shop with fun items, snapping pictures and pricing everything before I leave.

What's new, you might ask? Well, for starters I'm trying out a CLEARANCE room. Remember those little colored dots? I tried to group most of them together in one space. It doesn't all fit in one room, but I tried. And here are a few more groupings of fresh, fun furniture. Alliteration? Yes, please. 

 

Shop Scenes

No, we're no longer planning on moving out at the end of the month {insert bummed face here}. Plans fell through on the other end with the people taking over my lease. So as far as I know, I'll be in Sq. Hill until April (or at least until someone else comes along to sublease the space). Some of you are happy with that, I know, and I'm happy to be able to make myself "known" in an area like this for a little while longer.
Enough with that. Here are some new "scenes" from the shop. I was going to title this post "Crime Scenes", but that felt a little too cheesy. The pictures do look a bit crime scene-ish though, with the text on them and all...right?

Diamonds in the Rough.

Here are a bunch of things that might not make it to the shop before we switch everything over to the church. So I thought I'd take some pictures. Some things are a bit diamond in the rough, as is the church still, but there's still some really great bones to these pieces. Seeking {Mid Century} Simplicity.

I crave simplicity in everything I do, right down to the way I decorate. That's why I'm in love with a couple of mid century modern pieces we just got in the shop. They're simply gorgeous pieces. Here's a walnut credenza which could double as a triple dresser, and a matching tallboy (that can also be split into two pieces if you wanted to get creative and use the top piece as a night stand). This credenza was the HEAVIEST piece of furniture I've yet to come across in the whole year I've been at the shop! Bless you, poor passerby-er on the sidewalk  who stopped to help us get this in the store. All this to say it was definitely built to last. And just look at that beautiful, brass hardware (which also adorns the feet, too).

 Next on the list is a bedroom set made by Kent Coffey. This is a company I've enjoyed researching as it seems so many people have found a new love in an old brand. With cool lines and smooth hardware, it's easy to see why. Founded in the early 1900's by Harold Coffey in North Carolina, he sought to manufacture quality pieces at a reasonable price so the "average consumer" could afford it. This set is from The Tableau collection. In it comes a nightstand, full-sized headboard, highboy dresser, lowboy dresser, and a breathtaking desk and chair combo. Pick and choose your favorites or buy it all for 15% off the total.

Cottage Chic

Well, we (semi) finished my daughter's new room. Spurred on by my parent's visit, and needing an extra guest bed since my sister-in-law moved in, we kicked it into high gear and went for it. Why people don't use the term "stubborn as wallpaper", I'll never know, but I'm coining it now. I bought this self-adhesive wall paper from Urban Outfitters (I am in no way getting paid to advertise this) and as it turns out I did NOT miss my calling to be a professional wallpaper. In fact, I might venture to say this was harder than giving birth to my daughter! However, with a lot of sweat (darn 98 degree weather) and perseverance, I think the end result was worth it. Here are some before and after shots. I think it hardly looks like the same room.

Outdated wallpaper and wood paneling made this room look dark and scary.

We ended up plastering over the whole wall. Probably would have been just as easy to remove the wallpaper.

If you do decide to wallpaper a room for yourself, I recommend a sharp exacto knife and starting in an inconspicuous spot.  

A fresh coat of primer + paint really lightened up the room.

This was an old baby dresser I redid a while ago. I think I might repaint the white part a vibrant turquoise or yellow. Something that pops against all that white paneling.
